The Canadian Cancer Society offers a number of services.
Information on various aspects of cancer from early detection and screening to treatment is available through your local office. Patient Care Kits are available for people who have been recently diagnosed and contain practical items and information to help patients cope with their diagnosis. Emotional support for anyone who has been touched by cancer is offered over the phone, one on one through CancerConnection or in groups through our Inspiring Hope Support Group Series.
Financial help is available for those who qualify for our Financial Assistance Program to help with transportation and accommodation costs when travelling to and from cancer treatments and appointments in Alberta. Our Compassionate Financial Assistance Program provides modest financial support to residents of Alberta who have been diagnosed as palliative and have exhausted all other means of acquiring financial support.
Transportation through the Volunteer Driver Program is available to patients needing a ride to their appointment. Wigs are available through our Wig Lending Program.
